چکیده

We consider some models of f(R) gravity that can be used to describe, in a suitable weak-field limit, the gravitational field of the Sun. Using a perturbative approach, we focus on the impact that the modifications of the gravitational field, due to the non-linearity of the gravity Lagrangian, have on the Solar System dynamics. We compare the theoretical predictions for the precession of the longitude of the pericentre ̟ of a test particle with the corrections to the standard Newtonian-Einsteinian precessions of the longitudes of perihelia of some planets of the Solar System recently estimated by E.V. Pitjeva by fitting large data sets with various versions of the EPM ephemerides. Subject headings: Experimental tests of gravitational theories; Modified theories of gravity; Celestial mechanics; Orbit determination and improvement; Ephemerides, almanacs, and calendars

Solar System tests of some models of modified gravity proposed to explain galactic rotation curves without dark matter

We consider the recently estimated corrections ∆ ̟̇ to the Newtonian/Einsteinian secular precessions of the longitudes of perihelia ̟ of several planets of the Solar System in order to evaluate whether they are compatible with the predicted precessions due to models of long-range modified gravity put forth to account for certain features of the rotation curves of galaxies without resorting to dar...

Solar System planetary orbital motions and f(R) Theories of Gravity

In this paper we study the effects of f(R) Theories of Gravity on Solar System gravitational tests. In particular, starting from an exact solution of the field equation in vacuum, in the Palatini formalism, we work out the effects that the modifications to the Newtonian potential would induce on the Keplerian orbital elements of the Solar System planets, and compare them with the latest results...

Constraining the Schwarzschild-de Sitter Solution in Models of Modified Gravity

The Schwarzschild-de Sitter (SdS) solution exists in the large majority of modified gravity theories, as expected, and in particular the effective cosmological constant is determined by the specific parameters of the given theory. We explore the possibility to use future extended radio-tracking data from the currently ongoing New Horizons mission in the outskirts peripheries of the Solar System...

N ov 2 00 4 The post - Newtonian mean anomaly advance as further post - Keplerian parameter in pul - sar binary systems

The post-Newtonian secular rate of the mean anomaly Ṁ has been worked out for a two-body system in the framework of the General Theory of Relativity. The possibility of using it as a further post-Keplerian parameter in binary systems including at least one pulsar is examined. The resulting effect is almost three times larger than the periastron advance ω̇. E.g., for the recently discovered doubl...

Gravitational physics of VLBI experiment conducted on September 8, 2002 and dedicated to measure the speed of gravity (a fundamental constant in the Einstein equations) is treated in the first post-Newtonian approximation. Explicit speedof-gravity parameterization is introduced to the Einstein equations to single out the retardation effect caused by the finite speed of gravity in the relativist...
